The host country of the 2016 Olympic Games, Brazil and the European Union have reached an agreement that deals with the problems on a hosting of equestrian sport in Rio. The problems of the quarantine containment conditions and the sanitary problems could now be resolved between the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and the EU. This means that the horses are competing at the Olympic Games will be able to travel without problems to and from Brazil.
Earlier this month, the FEI had published a statement in which they express their concern over the laying of the Equestrian sport outside Rio. Now, they are confident that the transport to the event without any problems can be ensured.
